Feature: Dreams of Schools We Want to Attend as Adults
This special feature serves as the latter half of a school-themed issue, loosely connected to Issue No. 2’s feature on “Children’s Schools.” Visiting the Indonesian collective ruangrupa, the issue reflects on learning in adulthood.
It includes reports on schools people choose to attend later in life: a jewelry designer who enrolled in a Swiss art university; a man who entered Berklee College of Music as a middle-aged student; and the innovative educational approach of Akita International University (AIU). Writers such as Yu Onjo and Yoko Uema speak about the meaning of learning.
This issue confronts head-on the fundamental question of why adults continue to learn. The theme is conveyed through an experimental layout design in which risograph and offset printing overlap and interact.
